Lake Maggiore is Italy’s second largest lake, offering inspirational mountain scenery that famously featured in Ernest Hemingway’s novel A Farewell to Arms. Marvel at the spectacular vistas from the shore or hop on a boat from the private jetty to the Borromean Islands, known for their grand villas and gardens. A lakeside location wouldn’t be worth its salt if there wasn't an array of watersports and aqua-based activities on offer, and there are options to kite surf on the lake itself, enjoy the nearby Monte Tamaro Adventure Park or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, take a zip line over the lake.
For a more sedentary experience, boat tours on the lake are available, while a golf course - Golf Club des Iles Borromées – provides views of four lakes and mountains a half-hour drive away.
You're also close to the base of Verbania, an excellent starting point for the foliage train (especially in October), the autumn blooms of the Gardens of Villa Taranto in Verbania and the Terme di Premia.
