Explore Southeast Asia’s highlights on a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, taking in cities, the spectacular karst scenery of Lan Ha Bay, ancient Khmer temples and tropical shores

Days 1-3: Hanoi

Vietnam boasts miles of coastline and some of the most phenomenal scenery on the planet. It’s a country that can put your head in a spin, perhaps most of all in the capital city. Discover the history-steeped Old Quarter and the grandeur of Hanoi's monumental Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, pausing for banh mi and rich local coffee.

Distance from Noi Bai International airport: 25km

Days 3-5: Lan Ha Bay

Before your third night in Hanoi, sail through beautiful Lan Ha Bay, a less-crowded alternative to neighbouring Halong Bay. While on board a luxurious V'Spirit Premier Cruises ship, explore Lan Ha Bay’s limestone islands, white-sand beaches and sparkling waters with activities like kayaking and swimming, try your hand at squid fishing, marvel at the Sung Sot Cave and hike to Titov island for panoramic views.

Distance from Hanoi: 120km (round trip)

Days 5-6: Hanoi

Return to Hanoi for an overnight stay.

Days 6-9: Siem Reap

Once the seat of the Khmer kingdom, modern-day Siem Reap offers bustling markets, vibrant nightlife and a crop of artisanal boutiques. While most visitors will base themselves here to visit the astonishing Angkor Wat, don’t overlook the lesser-known ruins of Ta Prohm, Preah Khan and the Elephant Terrace. Should you tire of temple-touring, head to the nearby Pub Street - the city's nexus for nightlife and entertainment. In addition to a slew of casual bars, there are also quieter establishments like Miss Wong and Picasso Bar for contemporary cocktails and tapas.

Distance from Siem Reap International airport: 9km

Days 9-12: Bangkok

No trip to Thailand would be complete without a stay in the capital. Brimming with energy, Bangkok has some of the most impressive bars and restaurants in Asia, as well as grand palaces and supersized temples. Zip between landmarks and malls by tuk-tuk, sample exotic street food and shop for local produce at a unique floating market. You’ll be staying at the contemporary Mercure Bangkok Sukhumvit 11, with a high-tier room and Privilege Club access to add a dash of luxury to your stay.

Distance from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport: 25km

Days 12-15/12-18: Khao Lak

MANATHAI Khao Lak's setting on the unspoilt sands of Bangsak Beach is an idyllic one, with swaying coconut palms, uninterrupted views of the Andaman Sea and a lush jungle backdrop. Trip-worthy highlights include exploring the forested valleys and rolling hills of Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park, taking a boat trip along the Khlong Thap Liang estuary and snorkelling at Nang Thong Beach. If it's adventure you're seeking, there are a handful of reputable dive centres in the neighbourhood that offer tours and certification lessons. For farther-flung excursions, consider visiting the Similan Islands, which offer great conditions for exploring the world underwater.

Distance from Phuket International airport: 90km
