Drive South Africa’s iconic garden route and experience the dazzling wildlife of Tsitsikamma and Kruger National Parks - includes all travel and fabulous excursions

Day 1: UK - Night on board

Head to your UK departure airport for your flight to Cape Town. Spend the night on board. 

Day 2: Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure acquainting yourself with South Africa’s oldest city. Start exploring the diverse neighbourhoods, or wander the waterfront. (Meals: none)

Day 3: Cape Town

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy your day at leisure. Why not spend a day learning about the city’s history and culture by visiting the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art, or Robben Island, the former prison island where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years? (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Cape Town

Spend another day at leisure in Cape Town. We suggest heading out to see the magnificent Table Mountain or the Cape of Good Hope. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn


Today you’ll set off for Oudtshoorn, the first stop on the Garden Route. This area is well-known for its ostrich farms. You’ll embark on an exciting excursion to the Cango Caves, an impressive cave system home to a colony of bats. (Meals: breakfast)


Day 6: Oudtshoorn - Knysna

After breakfast, continue along the Garden Route to Knysna, a haven of paradisaical coves and nature reserves. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring; we suggest taking a walk to the Eastern Head Viewpoint for stunning views over the ocean. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Knysna - Tsitsikamma National Park - Port Elizabeth

Your day today starts with a visit to the Tsitsikamma National Park, home to a marine park, natural gorges and incredible flora and fauna, including the 36-metre ‘Big Tree’, an 800-year-old Yellowwood that towers over the canopy. Traverse the park’s stunning trails, then move on to Port Elizabeth. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Port Elizabeth - Durban - Hluhluwe

This morning you’ll transfer to the airport for a flight to Durban, on the east coast. From here, you’ll hop in the car and drive to Hluhluwe, along the Zululand route. Arrive at your hotel and settle in for the evening. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Hluhluwe

After breakfast at your lodge, enjoy a day at leisure to explore the landscapes. If you fancy it, a 4x4 excursion is a great way to see wildlife in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi National Park, or can you spot hippos and crocodiles from a boat on Lake St. Lucia. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Hluhluwe - Kruger National Park

Set off for Swaziland this morning, towards Kruger. En route, stop at an authentic Swazi market and glass factory, arriving in Kruger in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner in this dazzling national park before settling in for the night. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 11: Kruger National Park

A safari-filled day is ahead today, and you’ll off early in the hopes of spotting lions and other Big Five animals on a full-day safari. Return to the lodge for dinner. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 12: Kruger National Park - White River

Today you’ll take the panorama route through Hazyview and Blyde River Canyon, stopping on the way to admire the natural wonders; the Three Rondavels, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 13: White River - Johannesburg

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Johannesburg, stopping for a fascinating tour in historic Pretoria en route. Spend the rest of your day at leisure in vibrant Jo’burg. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 14: Johannesburg - Night on board


After a final breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK spending the night on board. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 15: UK

Land back in the UK after a magical getaway.

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
