Discover Sri Lanka on a soul-stirring tour of the country’s most iconic landmarks, lush landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with highlights including an elephant safari and beach escape

Day 1: Dambulla

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Cinnamon Lodge Habarana. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure.

Distance from Bandaranaike International airport: 150km

Day 2: Dambulla

Start the day bright and early with breakfast at the hotel before heading to a local market to shop for vegetables. You’ll then hop on a catamaran that will take you across a scenic reservoir to Hiriwadunna, a local village. Along the way, you’ll spot a variety of Sri Lankan birds and wildlife native to the region. Once at the village, you’ll join a hands-on cooking class that will teach you to prepare a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. You’ll next embark on a jeep safari at one of three National Parks where you'll encounter a herd of wild elephants in their natural habitat. Return to your hotel and spend a final night in Dambulla.

Day 3: Dambulla - Kandy

After breakfast, you’ll check out of the hotel and proceed to the phenomenal Sigiriya ‘Lion Rock’ Fortress, a towering citadel that you can climb for breathtaking views of the plains. Next, you’ll visit the Temple of the Tooth - one of Buddhism’s most revered holy sites which houses the Relic Tooth of Buddha. On the way there, you’ll also stop to visit an Ayurvedic village where a variety of local spices are grown. You’ll then journey to your next hotel, Earl’s Regency, in Kandy.

Distance from Dambulla: 96km

Day 4: Kandy

Set off for Nuwara Eliya this morning, once a British summer retreat. The drive here is one of the most scenic routes in the world, passing mountains, tea plantations, waterfalls and more. En route, visit a tea plantation and factory, following the humble tea leaf’s journey to the cup. In the evening you'll have the opportunity to watch a traditional Kandyan dance performance. After the show, return to the hotel for your last night in Kandy.

Day 5: Kandy - Beruwala

On the last day of your guided tour, you’ll check out of the hotel and be taken on a guided tour of Kandy, ending at a local arts and crafts hotspot. After the tour, depart for the seaside town of Beruwala where you’ll spend the remaining three or six nights by the ocean at the resplendent Eden Resort & Spa Beruwala. On your last day, you’ll depart Beruwala to catch your flight home from Bandaranaike International in Colombo.

Distance from Kandy: 188km; distance to Bandaranaike International: 108km
