Classic Double room
A multi-award-winning, 17th-century hotel brimming with history, in the centre of charming Oundle – full English breakfast included
In the heart of the scenic Northamptonshire countryside, Oundle is a period drama-worthy slice of heaven. Its ancient medieval gables, golden stone Georgian townhouses and pretty cottages wind alongside cobbled streets, offering an escape that’s bursting with local character. The Talbot Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in town, with a fascinating story to tell. It originally dates from around 600 AD, but retains its later 17th-century coaching inn design.
Extensively refurbished in 2012, The Talbot Hotel retains its sense of quirky local history. The interiors are furnished in a breezy, rustic style, providing the perfect setting to enjoy an ale in the bar, or a champagne afternoon tea out in the garden. The Eatery restaurant holds an AA Rosette, and the hotel has received accolades from TripAdvisor and Les Routiers, among others. While away the afternoon sampling home-baked patisserie delights in the Coffee House, where you can soak up the period ambience while watching the world go by.
