Day 1: UK - Chennai

Arrive in Chennai, a historic city’s on India’s southeast coast, in the Bay of Bengal. You’ll transfer to your hotel and settle in, then spend your afternoon visiting the Kapaleeshwarar temple, learning about the history of the city, the taking a drive along Marina Beach. (Meals: none)

Day 2: Chennai

After breakfast, you’ll head out to Mahabalipuram, where you’ll visit the Shore temple and the Descent of the Ganges monument and Krishna’s Butterball, before returning to Chennai and spending the afternoon at leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Chennai - Trichy

This morning, you’ll be dropped at the Chennai railway station to board the train to Trichy. Appreciate the view from your carriage as you journey through the landscapes, then arrive in Trichy in the early evening. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Trichy

Today, you’ll head out on an excursion to the Brihasisvara temple, dedicated to Shiva. En route back to Trichy, you’ll visit the Srirangam Temple, a towering and impressive sight - one of the best preserved in southern India. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Trichy - Madurai

Spend your morning on the road, driving towards Madurai. On arrival, enjoy a tour of the city palace, Gandhi Museum and some local markets, plus the Thirumalai Nayak Palace and the Meenakshi temple. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: Madurai - Periyar

A super-scenic drive is ahead of you today, to the highlands of Periyar, an area filled with wildlife ranging from elephants to bison to birds. Spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the surrounds, then attend a Kalaripayattu martial arts show - a showcase of one of the oldest fighting styles in the world. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Periyar

Wake up early this morning for a nature walk, where a guide will lead you through the habitats of Thekaddyu to spot wildlife. In the afternoon you’ll visit a spice plantation before having some free time for spice shopping or maybe even treating yourself to a massage. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Periyar - Alleppey

After breakfast, set off to Alleppey, on the Keralan backwaters. You’ll be dropped off by the docks, where your Kettuvallom (traditional houseboat) will be waiting for you. Float along the tranquil waters and let your stresses melt away. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 9: Alleppey - Kumarakom

After a night spent on the houseboat gliding glacially along the waters, you’ll arrive and dock at your hotel’s jetty. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Kumarakom - Kochi

Leave the tranquillity of your hotel to drive to Kochi, a culturally rich city that was once a merchant’s gathering place. Check-in to your hotel and relax, then spend the evening watching a classic Keralan dance show at a local theatre. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11: Kochi

Today you’ll delve deeper into Kochi’s cultural sights. See the fascinating Chinese fishing nets, European St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Dutch Palace, built by the Portuguese and the Jewish synagogue - a true amalgamation of traditions. (meals: breakfast)

Day 12: Kochi - UK

After a final breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)
