St John the Baptist Church, Burford
A charming and traditional coaching inn with an interesting history in picturesque Burford with an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant - including a full English breakfast
Dripping in old world charm, the Cotswolds market town of Burford is where time appears to have stood still, with many of its honey-coloured stone buildings having remained unchanged over the centuries. At its hub sits the historic Bull at Burford, the only red brick building in town, dating back to the 15th century.
Over the years, many a horse-drawn coach has rumbled into its courtyard, which still retains its original stables. Among its many illustrious visitors have been none other than Lord Nelson, Lady Hamilton and King Charles II. It maintains a proud tradition of hospitality to this day, welcoming overnight guests and diners alike in equally friendly fashion.
With only 18 bedrooms, personal service is a given and you can expect your room to be brimming with charm, character and the odd wonky floorboard. Step outside the door and you can browse the town’s numerous antique shops, boutiques and cafes, with the high street always bustling with locals and visitors.
Expect tasty fare in the brasserie restaurant, which boasts two AA Rosettes and a Michelin Guide listing. Adding to the accolades, The Bull at Burford has earned a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
